Principal's Message

November 20, 2020

Canal View Families,

I hope this message finds you happy and healthy. We’ve had a busy week at Canal View as we end the first marking period. Your child’s report card will be available in Infinite Campus on November 24 at 12:00 pm. Please be ready to read and acknowledge the report card in your IC backpack account. For questions about your child’s progress, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s classroom teacher.

I want to encourage our families to always review the COVID-related information being shared by the district. As you know, Spencerport is not designated in the Yellow Zone, yet we remain proactive in our efforts should our status change.

We are simultaneously working on numerous, “what-if” scenarios, ranging from a full return to full remote and anything in-between. Please be assured that the continued well-being and instruction of students guides every aspect of our planning, so even if circumstances change and the county or state directs school districts to go full remote, we will be ready to adjust with minimal disruption.  Again, we are always hoping for the best, and that we can flatten the curve once again.

In order to ensure our students are confident with the navigation of our online programs, we ask that all students, including our Kindergarten and First grade hybrid students, bring their charged laptops to school on Monday (Blue and Spencerport groups) and Tuesday (Gold and Spencerport groups).

Please stay positive. Wear your masks. Complete the daily screening. Maintain social distancing.

On a different note, I want to let you know that we’re working hard to create as much normalcy as possible for students. The CVA has continued to partner with us to provide students with fun opportunities that many have experienced and enjoyed in the past. As we’ve done in past years, the CVA will be hosting a VIRTUAL Holiday Shop through Fun Services from December 1 – December 11. Since we are unable to host this event in person this year, we decided to offer it online for families wishing to still participate. The students will be able to choose from over 400 different items to buy and give their loved ones this holiday season. The gifts will range in price from $0.25 - $10.00and will be shipped right to your home along with gift bags to wrap them inMore information will be coming home soon.

Please remember that there is no school from Wednesday, November 25 through Friday, November 27. There will be no Friday update next week due to Thanksgiving. I hope your Thanksgiving holiday is safe and joyful.
